Jessica was beautiful inside and out. As her condition of Cystic Fibrosis worsened her trips to Children’s hospital in LA became more frequent and longer. We began “Jessica’s Trunk”. We took discontinued fabric samples from mills and customers would donate $1 each for the scraps. We in turn would give the pocket money to Jessica who would buy more fabric to make pajamas or pillows for her friends and nurses at the hospital.
What was especially significant to all of us was each time a customer would purchase a scrap from Jessica’s Trunk we would tell her story. Then I would go back into the workroom and tell Guadalupe of the customer and that the customer sends her blessings to Jessica. Guadalupe was so appreciative of every thought and prayer.
Even though Jessica passed away almost 5 years ago, customers still ask about her and Guadalupe knows that Jessica is not forgotten.
Hi Camay and staff,
I recently bought fabric scraps from you. I had no idea how Jessica’s trunk came about… Thank you for sharing Jessica’s story…
My love and God’s blessing to all of you….
Roses and a lose of a daughter is something very dear to me… I will share my story with you someday..
Love Adela
