Friday Fabric Fix – Elegant Spa

Elegant and Contemporary Colors

With Fall already upon us, we wanted to take one last chance to feature a cool toned combination before we jump into the warm and cozy combinations we’ll be showing for the next couple of weeks. The larger print in this mix is a faux silk ikat pattern in beautiful shades of aqua, green, teal, and gray. It has a bit of a shine to it, making it perfect for an elegant and contemporary setting. We love it in pillows, but it can be used for lots of other projects (including light upholstery) due to the fact that is is made from 100% polyester. The other two coordinates we are showing are great blender/bridge fabrics that work with just about any print or décor style and can be used for a variety of projects as well.

Did you know?

Everyone has an innate reaction to certain colors, so this may not be true for every individual, but aqua and blue has actually been found to help in the aid of lowering blood pressure and creating calmness in your surroundings, according to Leslie Harrington (executive director of The Color Association of The United States).

In a Huffington Post article, “How Color Affects Our Mood”, Jeannie Mai, who hosts “How Do I Look?” on the Style Network encourages people to wear blue when they want to create a calming essence. “Wear it on a first date — something turquoise or a light aqua sweater with a soft texture like cashmere,” she says, “It makes a great a first impression and creates relaxation.”
